Lack of Planning

by Deah on Thursday, January 4, 2018 8:33 AM

As we go about life in our earlier years, we do not give much consideration to what our elder years are going to look like - financially or physically. This lack of planning can cause a great burden on the family if not given proper consideration. As we baby boomers are now entering this stage of life, we will put an even bigger burden on our loved ones and possible on our long term care options.

Permission to De-Stress the Holidays

by Deah on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 12:33 PM

For some caregivers, sadly, there seems to be little peace and good will during the holidays. The holidays are often overwhelming and stressful. There is so much more to do at this holiday time; shopping, baking, extra activities, and more. Some of us go “all out” for Christmas and then when we feel the need to double that for our care recipients. Well, it is just too much for many of us.

April is Stress Awareness Month

by Deah on Sunday, April 2, 2017 4:26 PM

We all have daily stress in life but when it comes to caregivers there can be added stressors. “Are they taking medications properly,” “how are they getting to their appointment next week,” “why doesn’t he want to eat,” - and so many more questions. During the month of April, health care professionals are promoting public awareness about stress during Stress Awareness Month and offering solutions. The “daily-ness” of caring for a loved one often turns to caregiver burnout and when someone is burnt-out they are not much good to anyone - including themselves.

April is Stress Awareness Month

by Deah on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 3:33 PM

April was first observed as Stress Awareness month in 1992. Sponsored by The Health Resource Network, a non-profit health education organization, this observance is designed to make people aware of the dangers of stress - and teach coping strategies.
