I really need to count my blessings when it comes to Mother and how many times she has fallen. She is not to be up moving around unless there is someone with her. She recently declared the physical therapist said she was not considered a “fall risk” anymore (She fell last evening).

Elderly People Fear Losing Independence

From the beginning of our lives, we strive to be independent and make our own decisions. When an older adult begins to fear losing this well-earned independence, it can be detrimental - leading to depression, and in turn, other illnesses. Many fear that they cannot call upon their children who are probably dealing with their own busy lives and schedules.
