We have learned that it is helpful to engage your pharmacist and have him or her develop a good system for taking the medications at home – including appropriate pill boxes for your loved one’s specific medication regimen. Once this is set up, a routine can be established and the reminder calls reinforce the schedule.
It is a good idea to supervise filling the pill boxes as this can get confusing and some issues that seniors face such as reduced eye sight can make it harder to do this task.
When you get the notice throughout the day that your loved one has managed her dosage, it offers peace of mind and comfort to know that everything is okay and to know that your loved one is on track with healthy habits.
