My friends mother is diabetic and has all kinds of complications. You can develop vision issues, skin disorders, foot complications, heart disease and high blood pressure. With so many complications from this disease it is important to follow treatment. Diet is such a big part of controlling diabetes along with monitoring your blood glucose level. Be sure to get plenty of exercise and enjoy healthy eating habits. If your doctor prescribes medication be sure to take as directed. Often the patient does not realize what strain their condition can put on the rest of the family and loved ones.

It you do not follow the treatment you will pay the consequences. I know someone who will not follow a proper diet and she is always in trouble because of it. Definitely take all of a doctors advise. Uncle John was so strict about taking his shot that he rarely would go anyway at a certain time every day, just to make sure he did not forget. He seemed to live well with his condition.

there is so much out there to help with proper diet. You can Google recipes for diabetes and there are some good books as well. You do not have to eat a bland meals when you are trying to eat the right thing to help control diabetes.

Remember mother telling us to eats your fruits and vegetables. It still rings true as we age. The more we eat of the good stuff, the less we eat of the bad. Diet has been shown to help keep diabetes in check.
